Colourpop's "Sol" palette, review+ swatches!

Hello guys! Sorry again, for the delay 😂.
I procrastinated too much, and it really was pretty difficult to find someone to take photos for me sometimes.
Anyway, I'm back with another review!

Two weeks ago, I've written my review on Colourpop's "Mar" palette, and this week, it's all about the "Sol" palette.

The "Sol" and "Mar" palette were both released at the same time. Sol represents the sun, and Mar represents the sea!
The colours in both the palettes really are true to their names, as the Sol palette has a lot of orangey shades, while the Mar palette has blue-ish shades!

Since the "Mar" palette wasn't that great for me, let me tell you what I think about the "Sol" palette. The review I'm doing this time is going to be slightly different than the last. I'm going to skip through the pricing and packaging, as they both are the same. To see what I thought about the pricing and packaging, you can head on to my previous blog post!

 Swatches

From left to right ( Unwind, OOO, Floaties, B+B, Motel, Hotel, Dynamite, Anthem, New Digs)

From left to right.
First row: New Digs, Anthem, Dynamite,
Second Row: Hotel, Motel, B+B
Third Row: Floaties, OOO, Unwind

Pigmentation

The pigmentation in this palette is slightly better than the "Mar" palette, but still, not that great.

Favourite shade: The colour "Floaties" is a glittery orange shade, and it is beautiful! But, keep in mind that there is a lot of fall out. So, if you're actually planning to use that shade, do your eyes before your full face, or it can get really messy, especially with such a bright colour.

The shade I dislike: "Unwind".  This shade is not pigmented at all, and I had to dip my brush in a few times to get the outcome that I wanted. I feel that it's important for all palettes to have a good outer corner shade, especially when there's only ONE!

Close-up looks

What I'm wearing: "Floaties" on my lids, "OOO" + "Dynamite" for my crease, "Unwide" on the outer corners, and "OOO" again at the bottom of my eyes.

Overall ratings: 6/10.

Who should buy this palette? : If you love orangey shades, this palette is definitely for you! Some colours are pretty bright, so I'd understand that not everyone will actually use this palette. If you're a neutral gal, this palette won't be a good fit! There are some colours that I do not dare to use as well, as I'm still not that adventurous with bright colours yet.

Lastly, I do hope you enjoyed this review. If you haven't checked out my review on the "Mar" palette yet, you can click here. Also, sorry if some photos don't look as good. I had to take some with my phone! If you bought this palette as well, let me know if the pigmentation is as bad for you?

Colourpop Lux Lip; Yay or Nay?

Colourpop have been releasing a lot amazing products, with all their palette releases last year, and now, the release of their new Lux Lipsticks! When I saw it, I couldn’t help myself but to stay up till 2am (10am PST), to get my hands on it! I bought in total of four Lux Lipsticks, and my sister bought one as well. The best part? Its only 7USD (RM 27.50) each! I've been a huge fan of Colourpop, and have been purchasing from them non stop since last year (the reason why I'm always broke)! I loved that their products are so good, and so affordable as well! Without being carried away, let me walk you through how i truly feel about these Lux Lipsticks.
(P/S: Sorry if I sound like a Colourpop ambassador 😂😂😂😂 )

Let’s first talk about the packaging. The cover of the lipsticks are rose gold, as you can see, covered with stars. Dreamy, isn't it?  There are many lipsticks out there that just has a plain cover, but Colourpop really did out-do them by embroidering these patterns on their covers. It actually looks Lux, as the name calls it. And do, thats not it! These lipsticks are also embroidered with stars too!
The packing is really a 10/10 from me!

(P/S: Have you seen Kylie Cosmetic's Lipsticks? Its also embroidered like this... Wonder who's copying who? It looks similiar...🙀)

Let’s now talk about the texture. I know there's been a lot of concerns on the dryness of Colourpop's liquid lipsticks or lippie stix previously, but let me assure you that these lipsticks are different and not drying at all. The texture of the lipstick is in a buttery creamy finish. It just glides on your lips, and it's really comfortable. Also, if you make a lot of mistakes like me, these lipsticks can easily be corrected on your lip and you won't make a mess out of it. I usually make a mess out of my lips when I'm putting on lipstick, and some lipsticks really just do stain immediately and I'll take forever to get it off. Meh...

Now, lets talk about the durability of these lipsticks. Well, as said before, these lipsticks comes in a creamy finish. Therefore, it will come off after you eat or drink, but after touching up, you'll be good to go again!

The exciting part is finally here, the shades I've got!

From left to right : Layover, Still Crazy, LA Lady, Foolish, Get A Room

Layover: A rosey nude, the perfect nude for everyone.
Still Crazy: A beautiful mauvey pink, great for a simple everyday look.
LA Lady: Rosey Terracota, for days where you want a little more colour on your lip, but also not too much.
Foolish: Burnt Orange ( Heard its a Lux lip in the form of Colourpop's Ultra Matte Lip called, MAMA). Absolutely stunning.
Get A Room: Bright orangey red. if you're a fan of orange lipsticks, you've got to have this!

My favourite shade : Foolish
My least favourite: Still Crazy, because it's a little too pink for me!

Here are the swatches on my skin.

Top to Bottom : Still Crazy, LA Lady, Layover, Foolish, Get A Room.

Overall, I really think that this is a really good buy. I’d buy this instead of any other luxury lipstick brands out there, as it works just as well, maybe, better too!

I hope this lipstick review will clear your doubt about whether these lipsticks are as good as it’s said to be, and do leave me a comment if there’s anything you like or dislike about these lipsticks! If you’re planning to get this, do get it quick, as these lipsticks run out really quickly too!

A day in Kuala Lumpur : Cafe Hopping

Raisa and I have been talking about visiting a few cafes in Kuala Lumpur for a long time now.
On a sunny Wednesday, we both decided to proceed with our plans and visit as many places as we could!
Initially, I thought we were only to going to one cafe, which was The Toast Co, but we ended up going to four different cafes, which was awesome!
All these cafe's were within walking distance from Petaling Street, so it was really easy for us to walk and travel around.

Let me take you to the four cafe's we went to.

1. The Toast Co.

Our first stop had to be The Toast Co. as we had always been looking into this place.
We were deciding where we should have our brunch, and we decided that this definitely had to be the place. Couldn't miss out on the toast!

How it looked outside. Super cute!

What we had : Pulled Beef Toast, Creamy Mushroom Toast and Berry Coulis Cream Cheese Toast. (RM55)

Our food came in a set as we ordered the Three Way Toast that included a meat toast, vegetarian toast and a sweet toast. This set also came with two passion fruit teas and wedges. It was sooo worth it!
Do not underestimate the size of the toasts! It was actually pretty damn filling !

Overall, the meat and vege toast were DELICIOUS, but I didn't really like the sweet toast as I don't really like Berry jams anyway.
But, I will definitely come back again and recommend it to my friends!

2. Leaf &Co.

We came to Leaf and Co. right after to have our favourite, DESSERT!

As I entered leaf & co, I was actually amazed at how beautiful this place actually is.
The ambience of this cafe will give you that calm, relaxing vibe as it is surrounded by antiques and also a huge tree inside.
It's definitely a place where I'd come to do my work and relax!

A beautiful big tree in the middle of the cafe, a pretty good spot for photos !

Outside area !

Our pick : Belgium Chocolate Crepe Cake! (RM14)
To all the chocolate lovers out there, this was so good! There's also some crunchy bits in the cake that made everything so much tastier!

Outside area

3. Merchants Lane

I've been to Merchants lane a few times before, but Raisa has never been there so we decided to visit it together this time, to have tea!

Merchant's Lane has to be one of the most beautiful cafe's in Kuala Lumpur, as everything in there looked so antique! This cafe kind of reminds me of the heritage of Penang and Ipoh.
Also, if you've been to the infamous cafe in Penang, Chinahouse, they both have the similar antique atmosphere!
Perfect destination for tourists!

Tea time : Blooming flower tea with chrysanthemum
2 pax for only RM15!

They used to have two beach chairs at this spot, but was removed and replaced by some tables and chairs with dried flowers all over. Who knew that dried dead flowers could've looked so beautiful.

  Ma beautiful friend! Raisa

4. Cho Cha

Meaning of Cho Cha : Sit and drink tea.

Cho Cha has got to be one of my favourite cafe's out of these four places that I've visited (ambience wise).
It has everything that I've described in all the other three cafe's.
It is antique, and also a place that's chilly and relaxing, definitely a package!
The only thing that would've made everything better was the pricing of the food and drinks.
To be honest, it is quite pricey, but it was worth the visit!

This is my favourite spot, open aired area with seats under the sun.
Perfect for sunny beautiful days like this!

Oolong Tea : RM18.
Served in a traditional Chinese tea pots and also tea cups! ( CUTE AF)

The second floor of Cho Cha also has another bar, named Ray Bar and we got to explore that a little.

How beautiful does this look!!!

That's all for the four cafes !
If you have the time to explore and are thinking of Cafe Hopping, Kuala Lumpur is definitely the best place to be! You can explore Petaling Street/ China town too as everything is so close to each other and are in walking distance.

If you're afraid of being stuck in traffic, you could also take a train and stop in Pasar Seni, which is super near everything.

I hope you've enjoyed me taking you to these places !
Let me know which was your favourite!

Love,
Esther

Colourpop swatches !

As most of you may already know, matte lipsticks/lip creams are super popular now, with many  cosmetic companies bringing out their very own versions of it.
I know this blog post about matte lip products are kiiiindaaa late, but its okay, better late than never!

Colourpop would definitely be one of my favourite matte lipsticks/lipcreams as they don't only bring many variety of colours, but they are pretty affordable as well!
When they started shipping internationally, I couldn't help but feel sooo excited! But, their shipping fees are still not cheap after converting from USD to MYR! :(

The swatches that I've got are from them are Ultra Matte Lip , Ultra Satin Lip & Lippie Stix category.
My favourite amongst the three would definitely be the Ultra Satin Lip, which is quite moist and comfortable when I wear it even though its kind of like a matte lip cream.
Whereas, I found the Ultra matte lip super dry and flaky at times, so does the Lippie Stix! I'd still wear them though, but definitely with the lip balm beforehand.

Here are some photos that I took of the shades I have! Hope it helps anyone at all when they are looking up on the shades before buying them! Also, yup, a lot of selfies, yup.

P/S: The Lippie Stix shades that I have are already discontinued, but I'd show you how it looks like anyway!

From the left : Dohee ( discontinued ), Beeper, Hutch , Frick N' Frack, Limbo and Spritz.

Ultra Satin Lip : Dohee, Hutch, Frick N' Frack, and Spritz
Ultra Matte Lip : Beeper and Limbo

Lippie Stix : Rayezor and Jenneration X (both are already discontinued)

Ultra Satin Lip

1. Dohee

What an awkward...head.

Wearing the colour Dohee here, which is from Jenn Im's Colourpop collaboration.
This colour is a bright peachy-orange, just perfect for the summer! (Who am I kidding, its summer everyday in Malaysia)
Although this colour is quite pretty and it looks fantastic on Jenn Im, I'd say that it is pretty difficult
to wear.
The colour is a little too bright for me, which I'm definitely not used to!

2. Hutch

Hutch is a really dark vampy purple and it is the perfect purple shade that I've been searching for!
This is definitely one of my favourites!!!
I think this colour could also be a dupe for the shade, Kourt K, by Kylie Cosmetics.

3. Frick N' Frack

Before you say anything, dont hate on the dog filter!!! I don't know why there are so many people who are giving people shit for using the dog filter! I LOVE IT.
Anyway, Frick N' Frack is one of my favourite colours and I've been wearing it A LOT!
This shade is kind of terracotta, like a mauvy dark pink. I cant really find the words to describe it.
A rose gold eye make up look would go amazing with this shade!!

4. Spritz

Spritz is a really cute barbie pink colour, a perfect colour to finish off a sweet look!
This is actually my sister, Jane's colour, and it is not something that I'd borrow to wear all the time because I don't think it looks that great on me.
But it is perfect for anyone who loves a barbie pink shade on their lips!

Ultra Matte Lip

1. Beeper

Beeper is another colour that i struggle to describe.
I guess its kind of a taupe-ish colour which looks purple-ish or brown-ish at times? I don't know, but all I know is that this colour is BOMB!!

2. Limbo

Limbo is a very dark brown and also another vampy shade that I love !
This could be a dupe for the shade " True Brown K" from the Kylie Lip Kit!
This colour might be quite scary to wear as its very dark. The first time I wore it out, I felt a little self conscious as well, but fuck it!!! If you have it, just flaunt it. Hahaha.

Lippie Stix

1. Rayezor

Rayezor ( Colour is discontinued)

Rayezor is a nude-ish shade that has a hint of pink in it.
It is perfect for a smokey eye.
This colour is not really for me as i usually love a brown-ish eyeshadow with a brighter or darker lipstick.

2. Jenneration X

Jenneration X ( colour is also discontinued)

Jenneration X is a coral red lip colour and it is VERY bright.
I never usually like orange toned lip colours as I don't think it suits me, but this colour is alright.
To be honest, I only bought it because a part of Jenn Im's collaboration with Colorpop!
It's not a colour that I would wear a lot, because of how bright and coral-ish it looks, but on special occasions where you want your lip colour to stand out, I think its perfect!

That's all for my colourpop swatches, I hope you guys enjoyed it and have more of an idea of how these shades look like on your skin!
